The military attachés learned about the tasks performed by the border guard agency, its structure, and the current situation of the border forces in countering russian aggression.

Recently, participants from the Kyiv Association of Military Attachés (KAMA) visited Ukraine. Representatives from over 20 allied countries attended the event.

According to the Assistant to the Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Andrii Kucherenko, border guards were the first to encounter enemy forces and engage with occupiers. Border Guard Service personnel continue to defend the country's borders, serving on the frontlines. Currently, border guards bravely face contemporary challenges, and the agency is actively enhancing its military capabilities.

Cooperation between military diplomats and border guards will enhance Ukraine's security and strengthen its borders. Understanding the internal situation and the agency's needs will help our partners better comprehend the threats posed by russian aggression. It will also contribute to building a secure Euro-Atlantic space, where Ukraine is and will remain a strong partner, as its borders represent the borders of the civilized world.

During the meeting, KAMA representatives gained insight into the structure and tasks of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the frontline situation, and the role of the border agency within the Defense Forces.

Colonel Aleksandrs Holmanovs, President of KAMA, emphasized the importance of such events in modern realities and expressed support, hoping for further fruitful cooperation.

“For the second consecutive year, an active phase of the war persists. We understand that the world is weary of scenes of violence, killings, and destruction, but this threat endures. Therefore, it is crucial to inform the world about what is happening in Ukraine. On the borders, in the de-occupied territories, we, the border guards, remain steadfast in defending borders, even in the face of artillery shelling and threats from reconnaissance groups. The State Border Guard Service is actively working on the creation and training of assault brigades. Currently, the "Steel Border" brigade is successfully operational, and efforts are being increased in this direction. The State Border Guard Service is a vital component of the country's defense system,” Colonel Ilona Melnykova, the Deputy Director of the Department – Chief of the International Cooperation and European Integration Department, highlighted.
